Have you decided to sign up for an Orlando golf school? Good for you – you’ve just taken the most important step on your journey to becoming an expert golfer capable of thrashing all your golfing buddies. To get the most out of your golf school experience, you’ll need to enter the school with the right mindset. I hope that by telling you what to expect from professional golf coaching, you’ll be better prepared for your lessons!
For your first few lessons, you’ll probably not be picking up any new skills. Instead, you’ll be working with your coach on eliminating your bad golfing habits. If you picked up golfing from your friends like I did, you’ll most likely have picked up many bad habits in terms of posture and swing. You may even have adopted some sub-optimal thought processes. That’s why it’s absolutely essential for you to build up a solid, theoretically sound golfing foundation before you move on to more advanced play. Don’t expect to be tackling the most difficult courses in a matter of weeks. Be realistic in your goals and be patient – you’ll get there.
Another important clarification is that attending golf school is not a substitute for hard work and vigorous practice. Your coach can only do so much. If you aren’t willing to spend some of your spare time thinking about the game and practicing on your own, you won’t be able to progress very fast. If you are currently attending a couple of lessons a week – the average for most golf school students – do make an effort to practice on at least one other day during the week so you can better internalize the skills your coach has imparted to you. You’ll see better results that way.
I hope you now have a clearer idea of what to expect from golf school. All the best with your game!
